The city will experience a major leadership turnover in 2027, with the election of a new mayor, two city councilors, and the hiring of a new city manager. At its June 3 meeting, the council annexed 17.11 acres east of the Highlands development and approved permits for a July 4 pancake breakfast and a June 21 Pine Grove Community House fundraising event.

On May 6, the city council accepted the state's offer to provide an emergency response resilience hub, agreed to include the city hall debt in a state bond issue this fall, and hired a search firm to find a new city manager. The budget committee approved the city manager's proposed budget and scheduled a public hearing.
